 Nervous system

What Is the Nervous System? The nervous system
includes the brain, spinal cord, and a complex network of nerves. This system sends messages back and forth between the brain and the body. The brain is what controls all the body's functions. The spinal cord runs from the brain down through the back.

The nervous system is the major controlling, regulatory, and communicating system in the body. It is the center of all mental activity including thought, learning, and memory. Together with the endocrine system, the nervous system is responsible for regulating and maintaining homeostasis.

Functions of Nervous System.

Your nervous system’s main function is to send messages from various parts of your body to your brain, and from your brain back out to your body to tell your body what to do. These messages regulate your:
  • Thoughts, memory, learning and feelings.
  • Movements (balance and coordination).
  • Senses (how your brain interprets what you see, hear, taste, touch and feel).
  • Wound healing.
  • Heartbeat and breathing patterns.

How to improve your nervous system?

Maintaining a nutritious diet, engaging in physical activity, and cultivating the practice of meditation are just a few of the many paths that can enhance the body's nervous system. However, if you notice any changes in your nervous system, you should schedule an appointment with your physician as soon as possible.
