 Nervous system What Is the Nervous System? The nervous system  includes the brain, spinal cord, and a complex network of nerves . This system sends messages back and forth between the brain and the body. The brain is what controls all the body's functions. The spinal cord runs from the brain down through the back. The nervous system is the major controlling, regulatory, and communicating system in the body. It is the center of all mental activity including thought, learning, and memory. Together with the endocrine system, the nervous system is responsible for regulating and maintaining homeostasis. Functions of  Nervous System. Human excretory system  The main excretory organs include  kidney, ureter, urinary bladder and urethra . Kidneys filter the blood and urine is the filtrate obtained. Urine passes to the urinary bladder via ureter and is expelled out of the body.
